Twitter Hashtag is celebrating it’s 10th Birthday today. Look how fast time flies. Actually, most of us don’t know the Twitter without hashtag. In Fact Hashtag feature made Twitter a cool platform than it ever was. Yes, Twitter was the one who started the Hashtag trend.
Later on, major social network platforms like Facebook and Instagram adopted this feature. Interesting thing is that most of the Instagram account users rely on good hashtags for more views, likes and comments. And digital marketers use/track these hashtags to promote their products or services. And it works like a charm. You might think I’m faking. But, I’m not. Because, I’m also one of those digital marketers who uses hashtags for brand promotion on social media.
Why do you think Hashtag is that important?
Hell yeah. Hashtag Idea revolutionized the digital marketing industry, twitter platform and many more. So, don’t you think it deserves a better place in our hearts? It does. That’s why we’re here to tell you guys a little about Hashtag trend birth and its importance.
How it all started?
Twitter back in 2007 introduced the hashtag feature to its platform to sort out group conversations. And it all started with a simple tweet.
how do you feel about using # (pound) for groups. As in #barcamp [msg]?

And there is no turning back for Twitter since then. Now, it’s a unavoidable trend that is used to sort out Trending Topics around the world, country or in your region. It was even used for advertising and brand promotions too. And it was proved effective and worth investing upon.
So, this little experimental idea “#Hashtag” changed the fate of Twitter once forever. Thanks to Chris Messina for that. Aren’t we grateful to have such feature in Twitter, Facebook etc.? Yes, we’re. So, what are thinking about about?
